Deeper Connections Over Iftar 2023

Dear Beautiful Souls

Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuh

Laylatul Qadr Mubarak to you all!

I hope and pray that you are all basking in God’s divine feast during this blessed month of Ramadhan.

On Thursday 13th April 2023, the Birmingham Central Mosque had cordially invited Clifton Road Mosque among other esteemed guests from Multi-Faith communities, and among them was Pakistan Embassy Councillor Ms Bakhtawar Ameer. The main highlight of her speech was on the spiritual essence of Fasting through seeking closeness to God and working on our self-discipline. This Iftar program held on the Night of Qadr began with the illuminous recitation of glorious Qur’an by the Imam of BCM.

The spiritual aura around this gathering was felt and everyone was in very good spirits Alhamdulilah.

Some reflections on how Muslims fast this whole month to attain God consciousness were shared among the muslim speakers. A poignant reminder was shared shared on how we as people of different faiths can come together and work together on our commonalities for our greater good. The core message from speakers was to have these beautiful connections and strengthen our cordial relationships. It was nearly time for Maghrib, and everyone was in anticipation of the golden time of Adhan ( Muslim call for prayers) so as to break their fasts. It was a very spiritual experience. The Prayers were arranged for both the ladies and gents.

We had the most beautiful iftar from starters to main course and deserts on the table around people trying to connect and having some deeper conversations.

It’s breath-taking to see how interfaith and intra faith Iftars can create a sparkle in building our human relations, respecting each other’s religious beliefs, and looking at the greater good.

Laylatul Qadr is the heart of Shahr Ramadhan. As the Qur’an alludes to this night in Sura Al Qadr:

” The night of Qadr is better than a thousand months.”

Hence, any noble acts of good deeds and righteousness coined with seeking pleasure of God has immeasurable rewards from Allah swt.

May Allah swt accept everyone’s prayers on these last precious ten nights of Shahr Ramadhan and may we continue to seek the light of God and grow within.
