A’shura – Epitome of Altruism, Timeless and Ultimate Sacrifice
How can A’shura be an epitome what it means to be a true altruistic soul and become a pathway of timeless love and ultimate sacrifice? Not only that, A’shura has become a rhythm of attaining intrinsic faith through Aba Abdillahil Husayn a.s.’s dhikr, an intrinsic prayer of tuning in?
A’shura is interwoven with the (dhaahir) meaning the aapparent nd t (baatin), i.e.inner change when all we see is hurt, pain, sufferings, captivity, darkness, tragedies, and bloodshed? The definition of an elixir is a concentrated healing solution.
A’shura is this transcendental movement of the heart, the chalice of divine love because this pure love of Allah swt gives a new life. This love nurtures and harnesses healing, this love gives hope, a new energy, love gives sacrifice, love gives patience, love gives compassion, love gives divinity and most importantly love is truly a healing balm that heals our inner soul dimensions.
So yes, if we were to look at the apparent, A’shura is filled with utter grief, pain and the ultimate tragic events that unfolded on the 10th of Muharram 61 AH.
There is a dimension of A’shura and the beauty of Aba Abdillahil Husayn a.s.’s noble goals, lofty values, principles that manifests and traverses the material life – that is ultimately soaring to the love for Allah swt.
One of the most amazing Surahs of the Holy Qur’an; Surah Fajr is also known as Suratul Husayn by some writers of tafsir of the Holy Qur’an. Fajr means splitting of the dawn: There is an inner dimension to Fajr. It is the awakening of our consciousness within from deep slumber of spiritual lethargy. There are 2 rak’at to pray at dawn, but for the ‘aashiq (lover) of Allah swt, they will begin before dawn to perform the nawafil. At the dawn, there’s an exchange of angels, whereby the angels of the night ascend and the angels of the day descend.
The fajr of the heart is when you see inner growth and divine light, traversing and transcending your material existence…if you ‘sleep in’ you will miss this…if you’re heedless, you will miss this!
A’shura is only an elixir of love for those who understand God’s Truth, Social Justice, and God centredness. In Imam Husayn reflects just as only an experienced gardener will be able to understand the subtleties of a flower in its stages of bloom. Nay Imam Husayn cannot be rationalised! He is beyond human intellect. He is the journey of Gods light and purity, immersed in God’s love and purity.
The sacrifices & love shown by Imam Husayn is POWER and ENERGY for us if we were to unravel it.
✨ “اَلسَّلٰامُ عَلَیْکَ یٰا اَبٰا عَبْدِ اللهِ، وَعَلَى الْاَرْوٰاحِ الَّتى حَلَّتْ بِفِنٰائِکَ، عَلَیْکَ مِنّى سَلامُ اللهِ اَبَداً ما بَقیتُ وَبَقِىَ اللَّیْلُ وَ النَّهٰارُ، وَلا جَعَلَهُ اللهُ آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنّى لِزِیٰارَتِکُمْ، اَلسَّلامُ عَلَى الْحُسَیْنِ، وَعَلٰى عَلِىِّ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ، وَعَلىٰ اَوْلادِ الْحُسَیْنِ، وَعَلىٰ اَصْحٰابِ الْحُسَیْن “
Peace be upon you O’ Aba ‘Abdillah and upon the souls which were annihilated with you. Upon you, from me, is the peace of Allah for eternity, as long as the night and the day remain and please do not make this (Ziyarat) as my last contact with you. Greetings be upon Husayn, and upon ‘Ali the son of Husayn and upon the children of Husayn and upon the companions of Husayn a.s.
May our souls be in tuned with the lofty values and principles of Imam Al Husayn a.s as we proactively await the coming of our Awaited Saviour Imam Al Mahdi ajfs.
