A short article written by 13-year-old Muna Hadi Alhilli from Birmingham UK – Our future star

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

I begin with the name of the Almighty God, the Compassionate, the Merciful and the One who has created everything in perfection

On the 22nd of April 2023 which was ‘Earth Day’, I was delighted to be part of a peaceful protest in which our goal as a collective community was to raise awareness on our environment.

We all came from different backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures but one thing that united us was our love and passion for safeguarding our planet earth. I was so pleased to meet people of all ages and backgrounds and that we all had a common goal: to make a positive change.

There were many speakers who talked about how we can all take responsibility in ensuring that we look after nature and our beautiful planet.

Thousands had rallied around Westminster, London.

Earth Day was founded in 1970 to increase public awareness about environmental issues.

Each year on April 22, millions of people worldwide celebrate the day with rallies, clean-up events and educational programs.

As Muslims and followers of the Ahlulbayt a.s. we need to take a proactive role in creating awareness on climate change, global warming and deforestation. These are extremely important matters and if we don’t take charge in protecting our Earth, there will be serious consequences for our younger generation and our future.

At the age of 13, I am also quite concerned about these matters as there’s so much waste and so much pollution.

I was very fortunate to travel with my mum and my older sister from Birmingham to London and to be part of this august rallying in thousands. It was a feeling of taking action and it made me feel that every voice matters and I hope today’s leaders will take responsibility of these serious matters that is negatively impacting with urgency.

I hope and pray that we can together raise our voice and follow the holy Prophet’s seerah in taking care of Allah’s creation as an amanat given to us as a beautiful gift.

Thank you all for reading my short article and I feel like I must have missed out on so many important points but have made it concise to draw your attention to your world around you.
